Msft 50 Adalah

New DHCP Client-Side Features Introduced in Windows 10 April 2018 Update

Background

The DHCP client in Windows 10 has been updated in the Windows April 2018 Update, also known as Windows 10 version 1803, to read and implement the Option 119 Option. MSFT is of course Microsoft's stock symbol. I saw MSFT 50 on my Asus router using several GBs of data today, so I began researching and finally found out it was my Linux system, a Dell Optiplex that doesn't have Windows but did come with it. After some Googling, it turns out that android-dhcp-13 corresponds to an Android device running Android 13, and MSFT 50 corresponds to a Windows device. However, I was not able to find much information on what udhcp and the version number mean.

Microsoft DHCP Server

In a Microsoft DHCP server, the vendor classes for Windows Windows machines are built-in. Others can be added via the context menu of the server. Additionally, the traditional Client Vendor Name has been updated for some Windows-based devices.

This value used to be simply MSFT 50. Some devices will now show up as MSFT 50 XBOX.

Why is the Device Type Shown in the Light Cat MSFT 50?

The light cat is a DHCP server that provides IP addresses to devices on a network. When a device requests an IP address, it sends a DHCP Discover message. The DHCP server responds with a DHCP Offer message, which contains the IP address that the device will use. The device then sends a DHCP Request message to accept the IP address. The DHCP server responds with a DHCP Acknowledgement message, which completes the process.

The device type is shown in the light cat MSFT 50 because the device that requested the IP address is a Windows device. The MSFT 50 identifier is used to identify Windows devices on a network.
